Dear Friends,

During the months leading up to last Election Day, I spoke with many neighbors, and virtually all the conversations had something in common: we will benefit from better communication.

When the votes were tallied, I knew my work was cut out for me. I’d run on a platform of transparency and broadening communication. I’ve been trying to uphold that work since I was sworn in. While I know there is, and will always be, more work to be done, I believe my efforts are resonating.

During the election, I raised funds to promote my candidacy. Since then, I’ve used the remaining funds to heighten the reach of my communication and share the work being done on your behalf. This has been done primarily through sponsored posts on social media. Facebook provides good “bang for the buck” and I’ve leveraged it because my campaign account is running low. I’m hoping you will help me reach more people.

If you have appreciated my approach, I ask you to please make a contribution to support continued and expanded efforts to get the word out, so that more people are able to benefit.

I’d like to place ads relating to Barrington issues and activities in local publications, with more prominent placement than the regulatory ads placed. This could cost $100 - $250 per ad, depending on publication, size and overall frequency. I’d like to increase the impact of promoted posts on Facebook, which would cost $50-$100 per month.

It is my hope that with enough funding, we can begin a periodic newsletter, mailed to all Barrington residents. The cost of doing so is between $1,500 and $3,000 depending on form and content. I’d also like to hold public engagement events, so that I can be sure I’m taking into account the many views held by Barrington residents. These events can be held at no cost (which I’m already doing), but experience tells me that more people attend when food or another incentive is provided.

All the costs associated with these initiatives are the direct costs incurred, and reflect me providing all of the time needed to produce the communications. In total, I believe $6,500 will allow most initiatives to reach many people, including a first run of a town-wide mailing.

Whether it’s $10, $50 or $250, your contribution will be greatly appreciated by the many Barrington residents who will be better informed and more engaged in our community. The maximum gift is $1,000 per person, per year, and all contributions must be made with personal funds, and not be paid from a business account.

Thank you for your support, and for entrusting me with the privilege to serve as a spokesperson for our community and to our community.

Gratefully in your service,
