When we keep this in mind as we pursue solutions to the challenges of our town, state, nation and planet, we are able to reach further into the realm of success; beyond the obstacles and the division and the conflict.

This is my version and opinion of the July 2019 Town Council meeting. Please read this with the knowledge that “my side of the story” is presented more clearly and with more insight than the “other side,” which is limited to my assumptions of the positions of others. Because I am not presenting “the whole story,” I caution readers not to rely exclusively on these summaries to fully form their opinions. My hope is that you will find items of interest in here that will direct you to seek other sources of information about those topics.

One piece of clarification to the concerns in that letter is that this doesn’t create an at-will or haphazard way of assessing. It’s straightforward: a home’s assessment will change between townwide reassessments as a result of an arm’s-length sale or of material modifications to the property.

America is a dream. It’s an ideal to which we aspire, a promise made to us, and a promise that we make.

There are many challenges to implementing the District’s start time policy. There are many people who have expressed they are unhappy that it is going forward. It is unlikely to help everybody. The School Committee can recognize that, and I believe have communicated that they do in fact recognize that, and still determine the Barrington School District is better off maintaining that policy. Their exclusive authority to make that decision is how our government is designed to work. And, that’s a good thing.

Why I’m voting for Cynthia, Mike and Jude, and other planned FTM votes and commentary, in advance of the 2019 Financial Town Meeting.

A little longer than a year ago, I entered politics because I had grown increasingly frustrated with the widening gap between conflicting groups of people and I had grown increasingly passionate about trying to narrow that gap.

I firmly believe government can help people.

We must never forget where we come from, nor why we’re here. But we must look to where we are going and we must keep our course. The promised land is not fulfilled until we are safe, and we are secure, and we no longer must strive to merely survive.
