Senior Housing and Sports Fields: A Broader View for Redevelopment

When ShineHarmony’s proposal to redevelop the old Zion College as a senior living facility didn’t gain traction, it was a blessing in disguise.

Additional housing for seniors is necessary so long-time Barrington residents may remain comfortably in town. When creating it, we should take a comprehensive view of properties throughout town, rather than evaluating the opportunity of only one plot at a time. This allows for strategic development to better meet the immediate and long-term needs of Barrington residents.

One idea I’d like to explore, if elected to Town Council, is to consolidate the athletic fields that are scattered throughout town. This would create a better sporting experience for families who currently have to zig-zag across town for practices and games at various locations. It would also open portions of the former fields to modest redevelopment for seniors and others.
